STRANGE MEETING YOU HERE
This has been a good week for my pals at JHU, 32 East 32nd Street, where everybody who is anybody congregates to get their Wednesday fix of funnybooks. Since the filming of the upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange is taking place on that very block, what better opportunity for Benedict Cumberbatch to drop in? You've probably seen the footage or at least a few snapshots. (Hi, Rene!)
[Pro tip for Queens residents: the Q32 bus won't be stopping on that block, so you'll have to hike to the stop on Madison Avenue. But think of the inconvenience if there really were a cosmic battle going on there. By now, they still probably wouldn't have cleaned up around Grand Central after the first Avengers picture.]
Here's the previous attempt to turn Doc into film fodder. This is a made-for-TV movie that I kicked myself for missing when it was first aired. Now, inexplicably, here's that whole film on YouTube.
Jessica Walter portrays Morgan Le Fay, looking for all the world like every Bill Everett drawing of Umar. Also, really cool window at 1:22:02 or so.
