Forgot to mention this at Christmas: R.O. Blechman's book has been reprinted by the lovely folks at Dover Books, with a foreword by Jules Feiffer and an introduction by Maurice Sendak. I know, right?
My copy had a previous owner:
Yes, that Belafonte. The company's not at that address anymore. At least, not according to their website.
I thought they might have had something to do with the filmed version, but that was a Terrytoons production, with Al Kouzel and Gene Deitch each getting separate direction credits. It's narrated by Boris Karloff, whom you already associate with Christmas because of that whole "Grinch" thing.
Somebody put the short film up at the dailymotion site (Been there since 2009, apparently). It's very much worth the nine minutes you will invest in it.
