EARLY RETURNS

It's now a tradition with us to attend the yearly Early Music New York concert at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. Any excuse to hear a lute or a theorbo. Also, the final selection of the evening was "Riu Chiu," which I fell for the night the Monkees' rendition was broadcast.

We were in no hurry to leave the Cathedral. We discovered that, as a recent "gift of the artist," they had acquired these works by sculptor Tom Otterness. They contain some of his usual iconography: little men, dollar signs, and that thing that looks like a Pepperidge Farm Goldfish cracker.
